Just as Christopher Columbus explored the New World and Jacques Cousteau plunged into the ocean’s depths, quantum scientists are pioneering uncharted territory with every experiment.
And while IQC postdoc Krister Shalm says his type of exploration in a photonics lab is not as “sexy” as discovering a new world, we would argue that it’s just as cool.
This past weekend, during Cafe Scientifique — an informal science roundtable at The Rivoli in Toronto — Krister explained the amazing things he’s working on by, as he puts it, “playing with lasers” at IQC.
